When

5:30 to 6:15 p.m., Oct. 9, 2023

The Afrochicanx digital humanities project: memories, narratives, and oppositional consciousness of Black diasporas (a cross institutional and cross regional collaborative research project funded through crossing Latinidades, a Mellon Foundation initiative) is working to create a multimodal Afrochicanx bilingual digital archive for students, local, and transnational communities, and academic departments.

Please join us for a reception and conversation with Dr. Linda Garcia Merchant, Dr. Micaela Diaz-Sanchez, Dr. Dora Careaga-Coleman, along with artist and photojournalist Koral Carballo who will discuss how their work engages with the histories and experiences of AfroMexican, AfroChicanx, Blaxicans, and AfroHispanos in the borderlands.
