Deyanira Ibarra
Award Recipient Summer 2023
Deyanira Ibarra is a Chicana born and raised in California’s central coast region. They are a PhD student in sociocultural anthropology at the University of Arizona interested in how people navigate the sociopolitical structures that differentiate access to reproductive autonomy and in turn how these systems are subverted through networks of care outside of institutionalized healthcare spaces. The CRFS summer award helped Deyanira research how food is used medicinally among Mexican migrants with the Salud Sin Fronteras research team.
